Home Economics

In home economics this week we made minced meat soup with potatoes, carrot and leek. The soup turned out to be delicious! It was very tasteful and made my tastebuds explode of juiciness. We savored every bite of the soup. At the end of the lesson we watched a movie about how the water is cleaned and how much people use water, For example in Canada they use up to 600 000liters of water per person a day, But in other parts of the world, they only use a tenth of that each day.

Today the 22/10 we are celebrating UN day. UN day the United Nations was created in 1945. Every year, the United Nations assists 38 million refugees, saving them from wars, conflicts, famine and persecution. The official day is on the 24 of October but in school we celebrate it on the 22 because the 24 is on a Saturday United Nations The UN can't decide laws, but they help to solve conflicts in different nations. The UN views that how small or poor nation is, it still has a voice and say in the development of the world.

We are going to the massive auditorium to listen and sing with the wonderful 3rd graders. Here are some awesome songs they are going to sing: Äppelmelodi, We are the world, Heal the world and All we are saying is give peace a chance. This will be fun, exiting and interesting. Thomas is on the guitar which will sound great. Patrick(fritids) Is on the big drums. David is on the sweet base. Ullrika is on a classic violin.

This week we wrote peace poems for the UN day. There were three types of poems that you could write about the first one was a couplet. A couplet is a pair of lines. Typically they rhyme and have the same topic . They also make up a unit or complete thought , the second one was a acrostic poem and the third was a word count cinquain. Those poems we put up on the wall in the staircase. The poems were about the world or peace or something with the UN day. A Acrostic poem is when you write a topic and then you write words that start with the letters in the word. Like this:

During the last 14 years the immigrants that need help that have come to Sweden have increased, 95 thousand people just in Sweden! Most of these people are fleeing from their home countries were there is most commonly war. All these wars are bad for the world and for the people. The past 3 seconds somebody died from starvation and a minute from now 20 people will have died and at least 3 of them will be young children a good mix of girls and boys

This week the 1 kr campaign has ended. This month only we have gotten a total of 4541 kr which is 1500 kr over our starting goal. We sent the money to the Red Cross and we are glad that so many people wanted to donate money. We got inspired by an article to do this 1 kr campaign and it was a success. We are thinking of doing this again since it was really fun.

                                                                    Music
During music this week we sang  "We are the world", "Heal the world "and "Äppel melodi". We sang these songs because we were practicing for UN day. We also got to choose two songs to listen to. They were Black Magic by little mix and Real American by hulk hogan. There was a boy and a girl  in the class that got to choose a song and a girl took "Black Magic"and a boy took "Real American".

Instructions
This great week we wrote detailed instructions in Swedish. It was amazingly fun to see if our instructions were easy to follow.
The instructions had to tell how to get from our classroom to the gym hall. After we had written them, we had to give them to a partner and let them try to get to the gym hall by reading the instructions. It was super fun to compare yours to the others that you  followed . The instructions were super clear and enjoyable to follow. It was interesting to read others instructions and to compare them to how they wrote them.

Halloween
This years as you maybe know we are not having the Halloween tunnel because of renovation that is going to take place in the basement. Instead of the Halloween tunnel we are having different groups that are having Halloween theme stations. The stations will be in the 6B classroom, the reference room and in the Auditorium.

All the stations

Eyeball Throwing

Spooky Scary Boxes

Ghostbusters:

Wrap N Run:

Halloween Quest:

Spooky Room:

The week after the holiday we are having national tests in English. This term we have the spoken part and next term it will be written. Hillary said that the English part will be really easy for us since its made for the Swedish kids. We will also be speaking about maths somehow. These tests are very nerve racking tests. These tests will not hardly be the normal tests cause they will be more harder than the normal tests.

YIPPEE! NEXT WEEK WE DON'T HAVE SCHOOL!! Have a great holiday everyone!
