Week 41

Swedish
This week in Swedish we wrote a fictional text about a made-up animal that we made up with help of our imagination from scratch. First we got a paper to write down key words under different topics. For example: age and food. When we had done that we where allowed to start writing. The point of the assignment was to write a text with the structure of a fictional text.

Student Rotation

In student rotation (Hillary) we had a test about vitamins and minerals. The question to the test was " if you were in a hurry to your practice or something and you didn't have time to go home and eat with your family and you had to eat at a fast food place like McDonalds, Max, Burger King what would you eat? "
What you were supposed to do was to write what vitamins and minerals are in that meal.

NO

We had a substitute during NO he had lived in China for 5 years, so he talked Chinees to us in the end of the class. He wrote 9 questions on the board about nature stuff. We where supposed to think about something to write a argumentitive text with something  with the enviorment to do. On the 15 of the October we are going to have a written assesment wich will be fun.

                                                          Home economics
This week in home economics we made pancakes. It was fun because all of the people in our group succeeded making the pancakes. We made about 10 each in average and they were all perfect. Everybody had time to finish frying the pancakes.

SO

This week we have started to work with "arbete & pengar" we read some pages in a book that it said what the money goes to in the family. We also saw a chart of how much money we use on different stuff, like food, free time, cars, other. We also saw a movie about money. Earlier this month we had a test on "samhällskunskap" which we felt went well.

                                                            Evacuating training

Today the whole school did an evacuation to Imanuels Kyrkan. If the school had a fire then we would go to the church for protection. We left at 9am and we came back at 10am. We missed a break!!!!

Crafts

Woodwork

In woodwork we are making boxes that have something to do with us and what we like/personalities.

Sewing

In sewing we are making clothes. You can f.ex make a T-shirt, soft shoes or an apron. Some people are also making soft-toys.

We watched Save The World with Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie , Pink and many more. We also watched the new version that's for Haiti.  With all  new singers like Justin Bieber , Madonna and many more.  We also sang Heal The World and Save The World. There is a thing called the forbidden zone it's rumored that now one has come out of the forbidden zone alive. There are three different tribes of kids, the ants the barbs and the privileged. Some of the mane characters are Faygar, Omar, Sky, Flame, lol and Zora.

                                                Swedish
We wrote an text about the Olympic Games in Swedish. It had to include some specific facts that we got on a separate paper. We also got a package of paper that had some texts in it, you had to write what type of text it is and then write why it is. We were also writing a fact text to practice before we did the test. It was vey fun.

Greenhouse effect

Earth is heating up and that's bad.the North Pole is melting meaning more water in the sea. The water level will rise and if the sea rise 1meter it will mean that 100 meters of land Will be water. There are a lot of ice from the ice age on Greenland still and it never melts.

New Bank Notes

This Thursday the new bank notes came out, but only the new 20, 50, 200 and 1000 notes. From 14:00-19:00 you could go to "Riksbanken" and exchange two 100 kr notes for a brand new 200 kr note, they say that about in one month they will be common and come out of bank machines. 100, 500 and new 1 2 5kr (the ten kroner isn't being changed) the 1st of oktober next year (2017).

Home Economics

This week we in home economics we made hamburgers. First we made the salad, then we made  the dressing with mayonnaise, chili sauce, sour cream, salt and pepper.  Then before we put the meat in the frying pan we prepared it with salt and pepper. When we had cooked the meat and prepared the bread we ate it!

Cyberbullying
This week we have been talking about cyberbullying. We talked about what cyberbullying was and we read a page on Internet were they had written some examples of things that are considered cyberbullying but maybe you didn't realize that you had done some of those things before. Cyberbullying is when you say mean thing or criticising things about someone else on the Internet and social media.

SO test
This Friday we had a social studies test. The test was about the society and laws that we have to follow, the courthouse and how it works. The test was also about how laws become laws. It took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to finish the test because there was a lot of things to write about. We think that the working environment was very good because nobody was talking at any time.

Student Rotation
Last week we changed student rotation and Stella and I (Maximus) are in the same group. We have Hillary and we are writing about vitamins and minerals. Week 41 our group will have a test. The test is that if you were in a hurry to something and you didn't have time to go home and have dinner with your family but you had to go to a fast food place like McDonald's, Max, Burger King. You are suppose to choose the most healthy food there.

1 Kr Campaign

1kr campaign

Our donation continues until the 20th October.  We started a 1kr donation campaign to Syria. We did posters and a text to say in the speaker all over the school. We said that everybody in school that wanted could bring 1kr (or more) to school. We are going to send the money that we get to the Red Cross, then the Red Cross is going to send it to Syrian refugees. We were inspired by an article in Dagens Nyheter, the article was called: En krona per elev blir miljonhjälp. It was on DN the 9 of September. We're going to all of the classes in school next week to collect the money that they have collected form everyone in there class that donated.

Feel free to pass our link to others.

Week 39

ART

In art we are studying sculptures. We had homework that each individual had to photograph five different sculptures and then choose one to continue to photograph in different angles. We should also write about the sculpture we chose.  A few questions we had answer in our text, when was it built, who made it and what material it made of.

Here is some sculptures.

GYM
This week in gym we had different stations where we did different kinds of physical tranings. For example push ups, step ups, squats, sit ups, triseps push ups and we also did 90 degrease against a wall, we hung from the bars and lifting are legs up with out bending them. At the end of the lesson we played "evighetsstafett" that is when you are in two different teams and run around a circle and try to tag the person in front of you.

"Riksbanken"
On Wednesday September 23rd we went to the central bank of Sweden and there Seán's dad Patrik was talking about banking in general and some facts about the bank. We got to know what inflation in money was and that the central bank of Sweden was the first central bank in the world. Then this guy called "Tommie". He showed us the new banknotes and also told us why they changed them. We also got to know that we were one of the first people in Sweden to actually see the banknotes and coins. The reason why they changed them was to make it harder to copy them and to change the amount of banknotes you have in your wallet. They changed the coins because the old coins weight too much. The 20, 50, 200 and 1000 kr banknotes are coming out next week. To be exact they are coming out October 1st. The old 20, 50 and 1000 kr banknotes become unusable after the June 30th next year. The new coins and the 100 and 500 kr banknotes are coming out October 2016, and the old become unusable June 30th 2017.

Riksbanken

Courthouse
This week we went to the court house. The whole entire grade went to Rådhuset  by Kungsholmen. When we went in it was kind of like the school but much bigger and filled with men and woman in suits. We got split into 2 group and each group got to go to different court cases. One group got resisting arrest as their case and the other group got handling of stolen goods. It was interesting to see a court case in action for real. The group that got resisting arrest didn't hear the sentence that the prosecuted person got, but the second groups convicted person got 7000kr fine. Overall it was an exiting experience.

Social Studies
On Friday we were in groups of four to work on our social studies test we were gonna take next week. We divided study-groups by colours. In the end of the lesson Patrick told us that we could take the social studies book home to study. Patrik thinks that all of us will do good in the test. We will get 6 questions to answer on the test. The last question was the one that you should write most about. We have been watching movies about different types of crimes and laws to improve our knowledge of the subject. We went to "Riksdagen" earlier this week to see how it actually was inside, we had seen video clips of how it is inside but it was way cooler to be there.

 Crafts

In woodwork we continued making our boxes that are supposed to resemble our selfs. If you were done with the boxes then you were supposed to fill in a paper with information about what you did, how you did it, draw a picture, the measurements and stuff like that. The next project was to make something your choice out of metal, like a bowl or something.

Modern languages
This week in Spanish we were talking about a test. You were meant to present yourself and say what you were called and  where you lived. You also had to say if you had a sister dad and mom and what their names was. We also did a couple of worksheets in our book about spelling and common phrases.

In German we learned  how to say where we are from, how are you and how we are feeling. We listened to a radio program about a guy who goes to Germany and it is called "Anders vs Tyska". We got home work and we can go in on a website that you can listen to German conversations.

Student Rotation

We all got new groups in students rotation on Thursday.  Students rotation is a new version of students choice, but they thought it was unfair that some people got more time to practice on certain subjects, so instead they made groups that rotate between different subjects (NO with Lotta, SO with Micke, Gym with Hanna and nutrition with Hillary). The rotations are 3 weeks in a row on Thursday at 10:00 - 11:20. With Lotta we work with atoms and we get a test on the last lesson. In Micke's subject we talk about all the minority languages in Sweden. In gym we don't do that much, we just do random gym lessons and we have no theme. In nutrition we talk about vitamins and what they do for your body.

Maths
In maths we started doing percent and learned how to do it witch is was  fun and All. We did some pages in our maths witch was fun. We also got a math package that we had to work with. We were doing maths with decimals before we started with percent. But we think that it was fun that've started on a new math subject. So we have to work on percentage now.

Home Economics

This week on Home economics we had a choice between  graham flower buns or tea cookies both are a type of bread that has yeast in the dough. The difference between graham flower buns  and tea cookies is that the graham flower buns have flour that is made from a whole corn and the tea cookies did not. Both did have wheat. We had two hours to make the bread and put them in a paper bag with your name on and took it home. If you did the tea cookies you got six buns but with the graham flower buns  you got four.

                                                        Music

In music we played guitar and it was really fun. It was fun because we had never played it before. Our music teacher also taught us how to play two different chords like A chord and the C chord. You were two and two and you got one guitar that you could play the two chords with. My favorite one was the A chord.

In an extra edition to that there is prisons when you get tagged it makes it more challenging. We think that the game was fun because it was quiet equal teams.

So shiva made a bundle of cloth come alive, but when Parvati gave the baby alot of attention he became jelious so he cut the baby's head off and replaced it with an elephant head, so that became Ganesha.

Week 36

A big thank you to everyone for making the IDP talks run so smoothly! I'm in the process of rereading everything that we planned together. I am putting them on Skolwebb in the order that I had them.

Another thank you to those that attended the parents' meeting. I've put a few things under general information.

I've added a page called "subject planning". I'll add new plannings as we go along. In maths, I've written assignments that we've done each week. Remember those are class assignments not homework.
